Art as Ritual

The exhibition in Finland invites the community to participate in a unique art experience by leaving behind personally written scrolls. During the winter solstice, these scrolls will be burned as a symbol of transformation and renewal, tapping into the rich history of the use of fire in spiritual traditions.

The exhibition also includes an online component, making it accessible to a wider audience and emphasizing the idea of community and shared experience. Participants from around the world can witness the transformation of the scrolls, even if they are not physically present, and be a part of the ritual. This exhibition serves as a reminder of the power of art to bring people together and create a sense of shared purpose, as well as the transformative power of ritual.

Taide Rituaalina

Tämä tila on omistettu talvelle voimana poistaa menneisyys tulevaisuuden luomiseksi.

This space is dedicated to Winter as a force to remove the past in order to create the future.

Mieti jotain, jonka haluat jättää taaksesi. Esimerkiksi traaginen tapahtuma, petos, menetys.

Think about something you want to leave behind. A tragic event, betrayal, loss, for example.

Sitten kun sinulla on tarkoitus mielessäsi, mene kirjan luo, kirjoita mitä haluat jättää menneisyyteen, revi se irti, kääri seteli ja laita se oven reikään.

Then, when the purpose is in your mind, go to the book, write what you want to leave in the past, tear it out, roll up the note and put it in the hole in the door.

Paperi ja huoneessa työskentelevät taiteilijat kerätään talteen ja poltetaan vapauturituaalissa talvipäivänseisauksen aikana.

The paper and the artists work in the room are collected and burned in a liberation ritual during the winter solstice

"Thanks Anna for joining me on that wild hike through the knee-deep snow and into the dark Finnish forest. It was an unforgettable experience and I appreciate you being there with me. And a huge shoutout to Haihatus for providing the creative space for this to all come together. Your support truly made this exhibition possible."
